Posting live from today's wedding Reception on my Laptop with High-Speed Wireless Internet Connection via my new Treo 700P Sprint Cell Phone/PDA. Elvis is "falling in love with you" in the background....I'll be uploading a few shots from today's wedding momentarily...here's the first.
They're doing the Hokey-Pokey now...
We almost got rained out today....The shot above was taken just as a few wimpy drizzle drops were falling. Judge Albertson started the ceremony just a little early and the rain held off until the very end of the ceremony...the Bride and Groom walked down the aisle to the very lightest (refreshing) sprinkling of rain. ....5 minutes before the ceremony
This was taken with a "Fisheye" lens...just right for some shots...
The dance floor is getting empty...I'm going to say good night to the Bride and go home :) |

May 10, 2007 I hope you got outside today...Summer weather in spring Next week Downtown Minneapolis is getting a new park...Gold Medal Park. It takes up a whole city block and it's just south of the new Guthrie Theater and West of West River Road. Here's a grainy photo of a historical photo of St. Anthony Falls, looking West. (sorry for the quality it was taken with my Treo 650 cell phone camera) They're having a Grand Opening next Wednesday May 16th at 5:00 pm...You'll see it on the Evening News. I can't wait to do Wedding / Engagement shots there.

February 13, 2007 Here is a "Tutorial" on how we design the Panoramic Wedding Albums. |
|
The Slideshow above demonstrates how we design our albums. The first slide shows the list of album selections next to a contact sheet of thumbnail prints. The thumbnail prints are CUT apart and then spread out on my work counter which is about 20 linear feet of counter top in a "U" shape. The images are then grouped and sequenced and THEN they are PASTED (actually taped) ...as in "CUT AND PASTE" into an old wedding album. At this point the rough design is finished and I can flip through the wedding album and see the pairs of 2-page spreads and the "Big Picture" of the album can be seen. For some odd reason I can't do that on the computer...even though I have 2 20" monitors side by side that give me a panoramic view of my workspace. I find it necessary to "Go Analog" even though everything is nice and digital to do this part of the process... There is something about being able to see everything at once and move images around quickly from the beginning of the book to the end and vice versa, instead of scrolling through pages on the computer. Next, I make the 2 page panoramas in Photoshop. I create a new page, select the background, and then bring in the pictures required for each 2 page spread. I add a border, a drop shadow, crop the image and then resize the images in relation to each other. At that point the pano is saved as .psd Photoshop document. It has maybe 10 layers, each image is on it's own layer. Sometimes an alternate background has it's own layer. With a mouse click I can turn off a layer and hide an image or substitute a new background. Pretty cool. Next I generate a pdf of a single page, a group of pages or the entire album. File size is around 2 mb. You can view this on your computer or print it out to look at it. If you want to make any changes like "take the first picture on page 5 and make it bigger and delete the second picture completely" I can open up page 5 make changes and send you a new pdf. When approved I modem them to the lab and it's off to the Bindery. This year I'm having couples come in to quickly look at the prints as a final inspection. |

January 22, 2007 Happy New Year! That may seem a little late but today feels like the first day back at work for us. We're done with "The Christmas Rush" and we've finished the 2 big January Wedding fairs....Now we wait for the snow to melt! We're busy doing album design for a half dozen albums which is a perfect way to spend a winter day in Minnesota. We did shoot a small wedding Saturday at Mt. Olivet at 50th & Knox in South Minneapolis. Here's what we call a "Window Light" shot.

December 1, 2006 We're busy working on Christmas orders... our shooting is done for the Season and it's been the best year ever. Our Panoramic Flush-Mounted albums have been really popular. Here's an example of that style in the last wedding we shot on 11/17/2006 at the Gale Mansion in Minneapolis. The weather was mild enough for us to do a lot of pictures outdoors...you never know what kind of weather you'll get in November.
